odd VINs on my car
Its the strangest thing.....my svx's vin is etched into every window on the car, and even some odder places throughout the car, IE glovebox, basically every plastic peice on the car too. Anyone have any info on this? Or is my car just odd....and why?

This was a security feature offered by some vendors in the past to deter theft. Sounds a little silly...

Boone is right. Subaru did not do that at the factory. Some aftermarket company did that for one of the previous owners. I guess it makes it easier to prove the car is yours if it ever gets stolen.....imagine the huge pain it would be for a thief to destroy EVERY VIN on that car! My old XT had that done by the previous owner. It was crazy....everywhere you looked was a VIN.

I remember reading a few years back where ZZ Top had every peice on their roadster etched with the ZZ Top logo. The car was eventually stolen and they were able to bust the theives when they found parts with the logo on it for sale at swap meets.

The red mid 30's chopped coupe was stolen.
I think the hall of fame has Cadzilla, a 50's cadillac that was chopped and stretched. Was it purpleish blue? Doug

It was a Ford coupe. It was reddish with two big Z's on the side. You can't take pictures inside the museum, so I have nothing to show you
The display said that the car's name was Eliminator, and that it was used on the Eliminator album cover if that helps. A very cool auto indeed. They also had one of Janice Joplin's Porsche's, and a couple pieces of the plane that Otis Redding died in (weird, but interesting). David |
