What to use to clean MAF

I read the how-to on cleaning the MAF. It mentioned brake cleaner. What have you guys used?

I have been losing power while on the hwy and I think the MAF is dirty or going south. After reading the posts I don't belive its the fuel pump.

Re: What to use to clean MAF

They sell cleaning sprays especially for the MAF at most autoparts stores.

Re: What to use to clean MAF

I couldn't believe all the gunk that came off of my MAF when I cleaned it (with MAF cleaner)!

Re: What to use to clean MAF

do you do it with the car running or do you take it out and do it over a towel or on the grass.

What was it doing before that made you want to try cleaning it?

Re: What to use to clean MAF

Disconnect the battery, unplug the harness and spray it . Don't touch the MAF, just spray it clean.

It was filthy.

All told, anything that can absorb or insulate heat that's not supposed to be where it is can cause sacrifices with efficiency. Did I gain 2mpg or 3whp? Doubtful. Doesn't hurt to have the thing cleaned once in a while, though.
