telescope advice needed?
Hey space nerds out there (Bill ). Could someone recommend a somewhat cheap but good telescope? I don't want anything super spectacular, just something to use whenever it is a clear night here in Fredneck. What are some good brands? I searched craigslist for a few in my area, but I'm not entirely sure what I should look for. Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

You'll want to focus (pun intended) on an astronomical telescope. Check these out: Celestron PowerSeeker 114 EQ Astronomical Telescope Celestron PowerSeeker 127 EQ Newtonian Telescope Meade ETX-80 AT TC Astro Telescope Bushnell NorthStar 525 x 3" Reflector Telescope They're all in the $2-300 range. -Bill

Re: telescope advice needed?
Well, I don't know much but one thing is to make sure it has a real sturdy base, or tripod.
Here's one I've seen recommended: http://www.amazon.com/Orion-SkyQuest...e=UTF8&s=photo A nice pair of binoculars is also good for casual stargazing, like 7x50 or 7x50. A pair for 100-200 will suit you nicely and is a lot easier to deal with and decide on then a telescope. It's what I used strictly years ago when I was into astronomy. The real fun is finding stuff and just looking and using your imagination. |

I found these on ebay. I figured I would just look on ebay to see what's there. I'm going to look at some other sites. Any specific sites you recommend? Bill, what do you think of the $30 one below?
