Rear Deck Speakers

I plan to replace my factory rear speakers. What all exactly do I have to remove to get to them? It would appear that to get the rear deck off you need to take off the c pillar moldings, and to take them off you need to remove the b pillar moldings, and then the rear quarter panel, and the lower part of the seat and so on and so forth. Does pretty much everything have to be removed from the rear interior?

Thanks

rear seat, quarter pannels, rear deck, in that order. speakers are 6x9, don't forget to unscrew the two tabs on the rear deck(one in front of each strut tower, acessable once the QP's are off).

Whoa you must be reading my mind!
I'm installing some new INFINITY KAPPA 693.7i 6 x 9's next week.
One of these helps to get panels off w/o messing up the plastic clips.

That's funny... I went to Crutchfield to order some Infinity Kappa's and they said that they don't fit!?!?!? What the hell?? Are the screw holes in different places or something??

I know I saw that too.
But it lists all 6x9's as "does not fit" yet lists 6x9 as speaker size.
Guess we'll know later next week when I get around to installing.
btw ya might wanna check ebay for the speakers

yea you will just have to make your own holes, like everytime a aftermarket speaker is installed. They never just line up right.

it has to do with speaker height not the fact that a 6 X 9 wont fit they will, just make sure the tweeter height is almost flush or they will smash into the grill above the speakers and break the plastic around the grill

The Infinity Reference fit perfectly and sound great. I put them in my car about 8 or 9 years ago.

Well that mighta helped 8-9 yrs ago. I'm thinking the speakers of 2008 are a lil different than 2000.

From looking at pictures on the net, the current Infinity Reference look very similar to the ones I have. If there are any differences then they are most likely purely cosmetic ones. Different colour cone, different grille (which you don't use anyway).

Despite what the marketing would have you believe, the technology of speakers has changed very little in the last 8 years, or 50 for that matter.

I had Altec Lancing speakers all around... (before the surrounds let go ) And they were the best car speakers I'd ever heard... Hopefully this time I'll either just get a cheap set of 6x9's and a small Bazooka bass tube... If I couldn't be bothered to actually worry about ANOTHER amp in my car then I'll probably just get a set of Infinity Kappas or Diamond Audio 6x9's... My components waiting to go in the front (STILL) are A/D/S component speakers... I managed to get lucky and find the old A/D/S's from back in 2003, still brand new in box... Back then A/D/S apparently made a better product than they do now... If anyone wants to check them out, ebay "ADS component"... They should come up

A/D/S hell yeah! I got one of the old 300 watt/6ch amps, sitting in the shed.
Might put it in if I get around to sum subs.

I agree but old speakers lose their punch.
But these Infinity's- "The woofer's powerful, compact neodymium magnets weigh much less than traditional magnets — a nice feature when you're trying to save weight in your high-performance vehicle."
So with as porky/hi perf as the svx is...........
