several lights go on and off on dash

I recently purchased my svx and for the last 1000 miles it has been trouble free until recently. I am having some seriously strange electrical problems. When the blinker is on i can see the D in the gear selector display in the dash dim slightly. Sometimes the stop lamp light will come on when i push the brakes but not consistently. These are somewhat normal maybe but the weird one is where the stop lamp, battery, abs, power steering, and brake lights come on all at once and then go back off or sometimes they will come on slightly and then go back off I have had them stay on once for about a minute but then they just went out again. The car has a new optime red top battery and a new alternator. I hope someone can help

I don't have much to offer but i have the same symptoms, i originally thought it was the alternator on its way out, but i replaced it with a known used working one and still no luck...unfortuantely at the moment i am just living with it....would be interested to hear a solution.

Check your crankshaft pulley. They have a habit of separating at the polymer connection.
The best way to check this is to paint a line on the pulley, across the polymer band. Drive the car normally for a day or so, then check your paint mark to see if it's still lined up.
If not, then you need to either replace it, or have it welded solid. This is a pretty common Subie problem, so don't sweat it too much.

It could be that the new alternator is faulty and is generating some AC current. By way of a test, while a fault is existing and the engine is running, disconnect/unplug it and see if the fault goes away.

P.S. Please advise as to whether all the faults require the engine to be running and alternator operating, and if not, specify any that are present with the engine not running.

All of the SVXs I have driven do that thing where the drive indicator light dims when the signal is on. I would check the alternator and see if it is a genuine subaru reman/new part or if it is one from a place like autozone... I have seen many ones from autozone and advance auto parts do some really strange things.
