Floppy Mirror

I'm a happy new proud owner of an SVX. It had some minor faults like the floppy mirror. But I found a way to repair it, took me just 2 hours, and now when I know how I could do it in 45 min.

1. In order to remove the mirror glass you have to heat up the complete mirror to make the plastic case some sort of flexible, this is done by placing it in a pot with something like 90 degrees hot water for a couple of minutes.

2. Now you get like 3 small knifes (not sharp, could damage you and the plastic case). Be very gentle sticking those knifes between the case and mirror on the long and straight side of the mirror and try to bend it out. Now you should se that with some effort and maybe help from a friend, you could pop out the mirror. Don't even think about using a screwdriver or something like that, the mirror will crack and you could hurt yourself.

3. If you come this far you could now unscrew the things inside it and you will probably notice that a big piece of plastic is cracked, seems to me being a bad choice of material.
First glue the pieces together and then reinforce the poorly designed bracket as you see fit with small pieces of textile and epoxy glue.

4. Assemble it once again, heat up the plastic case once more as mentioned above to make it a bit flexible and pop the mirror back. It's a bit tricky to get the mirror back, lubricate it with some soap and it slides in a bit easier

Do not use any lube on the joint, because it will be to little friction to keep the mirror in place

I will make a step by step instruction with pictures/drawings later on and make it accessible thru "how to docs" does anyone know how to do that?

O sorry....should be 90 degrees C
I guess it could be even warmer like 100 C but I wont be held responsible for anyone melting their mirror, so here is a topic for more research and improvments.
