Lightbulb Depends upon what you are planning...

...to FIX, Earl!

Cheers!

p.s. Let me know (PM?) your plans vis-a-vis the amount of time you have to spend in the PDX area: there is that Subaru/SVX parts resource we spoke of...

Looks like I'm out
I started tearing into the front of the engine today for a complete reseal/waterpump/timing belt and I cant get the crank bolt to break loose....yet. Got it soaking with PB Blaster now.

Smile How to loosen crank bolt

Turbone
An easy way to break the crank bolt loose is to slip a long pipe over the end of a breaker bar and give a quick tap to the starter. Make sure to pad the end of the pipe that will be resting on the edge of the engine compartment. A rolled up blanket should be sufficient. The engine cranks clockwise, so the pipe will rest on the driver's side.
I just had to perform the same service on my car. Taking my time took a couple of evenings. There's still time. Good luck.
Oh; by the way, don't use the flywheel lock while doing the above procedure.
Hope to see you at the drive.
Mark

Being too organized about this I'm sure, but I've updated the list a bit. The ones with question marks are ones that were signed up, but we haven't heard from in quite a while. The rest of us have all posted on this meet in the last week or so and have kept our status updated.

As a sometimes event organizer myself, I find it useful to know who's planning to attend, especially on the driving tours. You can know how many sets of directions to print, how much room needed at a lunch stop, and of course if we know for sure someone is coming and they aren't there in time, we can wait a couple minutes longer for them to show up... if we know they are coming....

Randy met a guy in Bellevue with a '97 yesterday and told him about the drive. He was actually very interested, and will call Randy on Friday if he can make it.

I neglected to mention that I have owned almost 30 Subaru's, all of them from the 80's. I have done multiple belt changes and have used the starter bump method on every one of them. I have never come across a bolt this tight yet.
But I won the battle today. My arms have more torque than the 3.3 does
I put a bar in the bottom of the flexplate and with the standard breaker bar and pipe (3ft) I broke it loose. Now I need to get some parts ordered.
But another issue has come up. Its another 92 SVX, this one is Teal and suppossedly in good condition. Except for the engine. My Claret is in poor condition body/interior wise but runs well, so you know what I'm thinking. And if its what I want, it will cost me only $400 to pick it up.
But it wont be possible for me to do the swap in the amount of time I have.
I'm already doing a engine on a 91 Mitsu Galant VR4. Fortunatly, this one doesnt belong to me.

Smile Hoping

Turbone,
Hope that you can finish in time for the drive. You are welcome to drive any of your other Subaru's for this meet, especially one of your XT's. Many of us have fond memories of Subaru's first sports car. If you don't want to stand out, I'm sure that there is room for a passenger. Our drive will make a loop, so you won't be stuck walking back to your car afterwards.
Either way, welcome to our club, this drive or the next. October's drive starts and ends just a few miles from where you llve.
By the way, thirty Subaru's might be a record.
See ya soon,
Mark

Decisions, decisions
Should I go to the meet or pick up another SVX?
This shouldnt be to hard to figure out
After looking at the car today, I decided to get it. But I cant do it till this Sat.
So, it look like I should be able to make the Oct Meet in a 92 Teal instead of the 92 Claret.
Anyone local have a EG33 laying around?

Btw, 30 isnt a record. I know a few other Subaru nuts that have had more.........wheres Huck?
