Wanted: A new foot for my 92 SVX

Yeah you read that right. I need a new foot. When I drove back from PA, I was getting 29mpg. Today, I just did a check and I am only getting 24ish. Unless gas in the midwest sucks, I need a new foot. I know I have a lead foot but I did not know it was that heavy. Damn. I guess a grandma was driving my car before me.

Anything I can do guys?

Lwin

The longer you drive at one time the better the gas milage. I average 25 MPG with 6 starts on a tank of gas. About 400 miles per tank. So coming back from PA you drove about 300-400 on a tank full with only one start-up?

Mileage

Lwin:
That sounds like typical mileage. On trip from RI and back I got 28; with local driving, I get 24-26.
Mine's a 92 LS-L w/72k on the clock. Had new platinum NGKs put in as part of 60k service. Also put in a K&N drop-in air filter, which did not seem to change mileage much, but improved the low-end grunt a tad.

Do you use cruise control? Mandi said that without it she gets 24-25 highway, with it she gets a consistent 27mpg.

I just finished a 330 mile trip with the cruise control set at 85 nearly the whole way. I averaged 26 miles per gallon. And this is MUCH better than my normal 16-17 city milage. I think if I drove 75 instead of 85, I might have got a bit better. Will have to experiement.

After I bought my car in Oklahoma City, I used cruse control almost all the way back to home (WA State) at 80-85 mph and averaged 26 to 27 mpg. Now highway and city driving averages 20 to 23. Just another bunch of numbers I guess. Good Luck.

Kelli was that you? I didn't even do anything!

On the return trip, I did not have the following things on:

Lights, Stereo, Cruise Control, Windows were up. The car was restarted 4 times at most and was running the whole way otherwise (including during fill up time at the gas stops). I got 28mpg then.

SHEEESH!!!

I only got 18.1 miles per Gal on this last fill up. Standard commuting, sometimes AC on and sometimes AC off. I think I've got an issue somewhere. I drive very smooth and don't monkey around (much).
