JDM headunit with CD changer control.

Was an option on all JDM models.

<<Was an option on all JDM models.>>

I'd prefer the steering wheel stereo controls that the JDMs had.

You could only get the steering wheel controls on the models w/o airbag.

Paul sent me an interesting tidbit regarding the audio systems.

"A bit of info about the JDM SVX sound systems. The 12
stack trunk CD changer was standard on the 91-94
Version L models and unavailable on the lower Version
E model. In 1995 they changed to the SVX Super Real
sound system. This is supposed to have very good
sound but due to the different wiring, it is difficult
to change/replace."

Does this mean US models can't control a changer? If not who has a JDM radio for me.

any $99 aftermarket CD Player will out-perform the 15+ year-old designed stock Panasonic unit.

...and CD changer? why screw with that when you can have your whole music collection, or at least a whole lot more than a CD changer, on a small portable MP3 unit?

I've never seen the US head unit but I can tell you that the Subaru branded units used in the SVX and the Legacy are fully compatible with the ordinary panasonic branded units but the plugs are different. I have the pinouts, it's just a matter of splicing the wires.

My reason for keeping the JDM original head unit is because it has buttons on the steering wheel.
