SVX Windows

We all know that the SVX with its amazing windows was one of a number of concept cars that featured this design and one of the very few that actually made it into production.....this weekend, I happened to see two of these cars and got to sit in one!

So what I hear you say? Well that depends on what they were!

AutoItalia down at Brooklands Museum was held yesterday and I have never seen so many Ferrari's, Lamborghinis and Maserati's in one place.....including two F40's (got to sit...sort of..in one - they are incredibly cramped and if you have long legs like me, forget it - I could not get the under the steering wheel and ended up with a shocking cramp as my friend was taking the photo)...anyways, first SVX copy was a purple Lamborghini SE30!!! Very very nice...but nothing compared to the silver EB110SS!!!

That was open!!!!

My jaw dropped and many photos were taken - got to sit in it and again, very very cramped as the knee bolster came out so far that you have to sort of come in sideways to try and get the legs under but then Schmacher had one so if he could fit, we all could.

However, what amzed me was the build quality - I had heard and read that it was aviation grade this and military spec that and that the tolerances were incredible....maybe on the engine internals but on the rest of the car, a shocking disappointment...paint work was ratty, leather interior was woeful, carbon fibre panels were lifting up and the bits and pieces that were adhered to the car were just deplorable - as always, I could not help compare to our cars and although I always thought that if the lotto gods were to look upon me, there would be an EB110 on the short list, I would have to say no.......looks incredible from a distance but close up and for the 250,000 pound asking price, I would have to decline.

Still love the windows though!

Pics will follow!

Thanks James.

Forget saving up for the Bugatti then. Just have your SVX bought in time for the JAE show.

My Legacy has the scratched windows also. Seems to be a Subaru fault. Is there a fix, other than replace the windows?

Joe
