help, gotta quick tranny question

you guys think it would be a good idea to stick a 2002 Subaru Impreza 2.5rs Transmission in the svx? i need a tranny fast i found this one for an affordable price... wat do u guys think .. will it handle svx power

oh yea i forgot to add that im wanna stick it in a 92 lsl and will i have to mess around wit the TCU

This transmission is a lot different to the one that is fitted. I don't think it is a good choice as the TCU has different connections to the Ecu, that are not in the early model.

Jason Porter looked at doing it, but I could not see a way of doing it, at the present time.

i have to tow my svx about 150 miles. i read that i cant tow it with the rear wheels on the ground and the fwd fuse on. but im not sure of wat exactly gets messed up. i hav ea messed up tranny alreadly and im towing it to get it fixed ... would it really matter

The rear wheels will spin and turn the rear wheel drive clutch pack that is located at the rear of the transmission. This will cause the clutches to overheat since there is no fluid circulating thru the transmission for cooling. Actual if you drive slowly, I think it less than 35mph for less than 20 minutes then no damage will occur.

This is only true for an SVX type auto box. Don't ever do this for any length of time with a manual type box that has the viscous coupling as that will burn up the coupling pretty fast and then you get FULL time ALL the time AWD and that makes it tough to turn a corner.

In the auto box case where the rear wheel drive clutches are all torn up inside, it may try to spin more parts in the box and do different damage.

ok cool thanks ... so if im planning on replacing the tranny it would be alright scince the only damage that will occur is going to be in the tranny right?
