Go Little Yugo, GO

While on my way back to Domino's after a delivery, I was following a Yugo GVL. This guy in the Yugo thought that the person in front of him wasn't going fast enough (45 in a 45), and decides to pass. I have never laughed so hard in my life. It took this little Yugo a good 30 seconds to make the pass and the worst part is the car downshifted and the car had no signs of weight transfer at all. Poor little underpowered cars. The car looked in good shape and looked as though it were well maintained. But hey, it gets from point A to point B, doesn't it???

My first wife's Chevette had an automatic. Stomp that thing and it would let out this deafening, sickening bleat, with no change whatsoever in velocity. Eventually the bell housing came unbolted from the block.

I've seen maybe two Yugos ever. I don't think one of them even ran, but the other did - or flew I should say. I wouldn't have given it a second thought, but the ~15" wide tires and V8 exhaust note with a 1500 RPM idle kinda made me wonder.

I was waiting at a stop light two cars back and a lane over. He put the Yugo in drive and the tires chirped. When he let off the brakes, the car quickly accelerated to 20 or 30 before he even gave it any gas at all.

...and at a glance, you never would have known. Original paint, factory ride height, factory-looking wheels, and factory-looking sidewall height. I've no doubt he'd pull a ten second quarter mile in that thing.
