View Poll Results: Should we put together a pledge-a-mile fundraiser for the Spring Classic?
Yes! That is a great idea and a fun way to donate to the groups! 1 50.00%
No! That is a silly idea, I would prefer to donate (or not) to the clubs directly. 1 50.00%

Question Any interest in "Pledge-a-Mile" for Spring Classic?

Here's an idea Jim came up with a long time ago. Having a pledge-a-mile fundraiser during one of our touring events to raise funds for the club and maybe these forums.

With the Spring Classic coming up, I am toying with the idea of trying this.

First, I want to see if there is any interest in the idea though.

What it would be is you pledge to donate a certain amount of money for each mile you drive during the event. For instance, if you pledged $1 per mile, and the tour goes 56 miles, at the end you donate $56.00. Or maybe you pledge $ .05 per mile, at the end of 56 miles it would be $2.80.

Usually with these types of things you go out and try to get friends and family to sponsor you and collect lots of money, but in this case since neither NWSVX or the Network Forums are really charitable organizations, it would probably just be the members (drivers) doing the pledging. (I guess you could always try though ) Basically since it would just be the drivers and since you'll know the mileage of the tour ahead of time probably, it is just a fun way of making a donation.

In keeping with how these things usually work, there would probably be a prize of some sort for whoever collects the most money (again, I suppose you could try to go out and get lots of pledges from your friends if you can convince them ).

Proceeds as usual would go to the nwsvx web site hosting and the small amount of other club expenses that are on the budget sheet. But we'd also like to do something special and acknowledge that these forums are a huge asset to our club, without them most of us wouldn't have been able to get together in the first place and even with the Northwest site now up, we still use these forums for a lot of our planning and day to day activity. So it would be cool to make maybe 50% of the proceeds from this event go towards these forums (Chris will probably have the fund raising stuff set up by then) in the name of NWSVX. I'm sure many of you will contribute to the forums on your own, as you should, but it would be kinda cool to give some as a club too, to show our presence and that we are grateful.

Any thoughts? Good idea, dumb idea?

That is one way to do a fund raiser. Another way is to do a raffle for a prize. That way you have a chance to win something if you win the drawing. We could do it at the meets that we have, or over the internet. Just another thought.

If I pledged $0.05 / mile for the Reading trip that would end up being $160!!
