Back in the stone age of computers (do you remember 386) I was on AOL. They were so bad that I finally went with other companies.

I am now with ATT. They are just OK in my book.
They are inexpensive but slow.
My problem is the location of the dial up phone no. I live in northern Del. It is a very small state. Most dial up companies locate their phone no. station in Newark, DE. This is also the main campus of the university of Delaware. So those phone nos. are usually very busy at night. ATT has 3 other places in northern DE where they locate their phones. I usually get thru on the first try on the number that I use in Claymont, DE. Thats why I like it.
When the phones in Claymont were down last year, I used a Newark DE no. It was always busy.

Does anyone here have experience with Netzero Highspeed. I seen their commmercials on TV ? They seem to be relatively inexpensive ($15 per month) and claim very quick speed.

I'm still a tech agent for AT&T WorldNet (until they move to India in april). It's true servers get blacklisted. The problem is with the webmail pages. If someone clicks and reports you as a spammer your server gets blacklisted automatically.

To get the server removed the network engineer from your ISP must contact our network engineers and together they take care of the issue.

I've been an AOL user for 10 years. I hate 'em! But, I haven't found another ISP that affords me the out-of-town access that AOL does. Finding an access number is usually a cinch wherever I go, plus, "AOL Anywhere" is accessible from anywhere via any ISP, so, if I'm on someone else's computer who has another ISP, I can always log in to my account. Their AOL communitcator software allows me to keep up with my mail, etc, without signing onto my account at work (keeping my wife and kids from using it), through our server.

Also, my daughter uses our account while she's away at school so she doesn't have to bear the expense of another ISP. Only one person can be signed onto the account at one time, but, it hasn't been an issue in all the time she's been at school.

Like I said, I hate it. Since 9.0 Optimized with "SPAM BLOCKER," I've gotten more gosh darned spam than ever.

Believe me, if I could find an ISP with as much mobility as AOL, I'd be on it like white on rice. But, until then, I'm stuck.

Thumbs up Isp

I have earthlink isp DSL and when i go i can bring my laptop or use someone else and get all my e-mails and all from anyone's PC 24.95 a month with home net working, no hassle what so ever with them. I got 10 hours of free dial up if something else goes wrong just plug my laptop in a phone jack and away i go. AOL has never been good from what i hear. Road runner is next to earthlink because they bounce off earthlink for them.

Well, stand by. For AOL is about to saturate everyone's mailboxes with the disk again. This time it will be a new bluish purple box with a hologram silver emblem that is brand new.

They are also going to do away with that yellow running icon they always plaster around. Since they are sinking like the titanic, they are trying to "reinvent" their image.

They are also toying with getting rid of dialup completely and move into DSL, but this of course won't happen, for their largest profit area is still with dial up.

Did I say I hate AOL? I'm sorry. I meant I loath AOL with every fibre of my being.

I used to get AOL CDs in the mail. I would use a permanent marker and write "Return to sender", would circle the AOL address on the box and toss it back in the mail. Did that a few times and they quit sending the CDs.

That's a good idea.

reuse the tins

microwave the cd's for 3 seconds and enjoy the lightshow. Once heated they make great coasters.
