So i had my asvab and my physical yesterday and today. I qualified for every job the USCG offers w/ the asvab, and the physical went well. except for the fact, that i had a concussion playing football in '99. and i have to now go to a neurologist before i can be cleared to officially sign up. Now im just waiting on them to tell me when i have to go see the doc. I cant wait!

hey that is awesome! isn't the asvab tell ya what job you would be good at?? i think i remember taking it in highschool, at least part of it...

The asvab is an aptitude test and there's extra sections that measure your skills but arent added into factoring your final score. The parts that are scored are similar to the SAT's. You can get as high as a 99. I got an 84, so I qualified to do all the jobs the Coast Guard offers. I'm mad about the neurologist thing though

i took something in highschool related to the military...i got my score back and it just said what type of job that i would be best at...something about military intellegence, i always thought that it was an oxymoron...anyways, i was in 10th grade and they were trying to recruit

I wouldn't doubt that you took a version of the asvab in high school, I have talked to people in other schools in my area and some have been put to the same thing. The only thing my school had us do related to careers was this questionare to see where your interests focused most.

Your'e right, but in basic it's all 9mm.

I Figure if I go target shooting w/ bigger guns w/ my dad, I'll have no problem with a little 9mm. I can't wait.

Small arms for the Coast Guard = 9mm, M-16, and 12ga
Ship mount weapons = 50Cal, 25mm(anti-tank armor piersing) and 3in Cannon. The 50 and the 25 are fun.

Ill be on a small boat station if i do receive wat i want, im not a fan of cutter life as far as wat ive eard, i ave a friend on one now. excuse te missin letters my keyboard is still messed up.

It is probably because I am a really peaceful and happy person and the marines are trying to turn me into a blood hungry devil!!! Well it isn't that bad and I think that you will have a lont of fun!!! Good luck man!!!

A main reason i chose coast guard is cuz id rather save lives then take 'em...marines is the bestof the best though, so ur one tough cookie for getting through basic! im pumped...ill keep everyone updated on my progress
