Correct Emissions Procedure

I emailed Subaru customer service to figure out the correct procedure for SVX emissions testing on a dynamometer.

Here was my original message:

What is the correct procedure for emissions testing on a AWD Subaru SVX? Should the front wheel drive fuse be inserted and the car run on a 2-wheel dynamometer or should the fuse be left out while the car is run on the 4-wheel dynamometer?

Thank you.

Response:

Dear Mr. Harris:

Thank you for visiting the Subaru Web site and for your inquiry. Your SVX is an All-Wheel Drive (AWD) vehicle. If Colorado uses a 2-wheel dynamometer test, your SVX cannot be tested with this machine. If Colorado uses a 4-wheel dynamometer test, your SVX can be tested on this machine. When you go to the inspection station, advise them that your SVX is an AWD vehicle and they will know whether to test your SVX or not.

Thanks for the opportunity to be of assistance. If you need any future assistance, please feel free to contact us again.

Best wishes,

John J. Mergen
