VK,
Voltage and output = 12V -- 95A
Regulated Voltage = 14.2 -- 14.8 [20 degrees C, 68 degrees F]
Output Current =
39A or more at 1,500 RPM
73A or more at 2,500 RPM
95A or more at 5,000 RPM

Re: Re: Alternator Output

Thx. I had the alternator rebuilder showed me the output of the alternator after the rebuild, and it was up to about 105A, I think.

Just wanted to make sure the alternator was in spec.

Yeah, maybe, Randy should bring some spare wires and tools down to Canaan...

I'm still contemplating on doing the 9 hour drive...

Whaddaya mean "contemplating." Get your room secured and get your LaBatt's butt down here! It's eight hours (almost nine) for me which is a piece of cake in the SVX. I'm looking forward to meeting you!

Re: Re: Re: you should have randy.....

It's not really the 9 hour drive that I have the problems with. Last year, I bought the car in Binghamton, NY, and proceeded to drive back to Buffalo to drop off the registration for customs, and drove over 3 days down to Philadelphia and back to Toronto. The 9 hours drive doesn't bother me. In fact, I'd look forward to it.

What I am actually contemplating, is what will happen during the 9 hour drive, when my (dumba$$) customers start calling me and asking me (dumba$$) questions. I need to locate a backup for that Friday and the Monday after the meet, or my (dumba$$) customers will not be happy.

I am SOOOOOO tempted by Canaan Valley.

But here's another dilemma... IF (and at this point that's a BIG IF) I can actually make it, do I:

a) show up as Victor,

OR

b) show up as Cecilia?

Okay, now you're scarin' me. I sure hope none of your (dumba$$) customers own SVXes and come across this (dumba$$) thread some day.

Well, find your backup and head on down for some R&R. Turn the damned phone off and enjoy the sound of the wind caressing the smooth lines on your italian/japanese beauty.

Question Alternator Upgrade

Randy,

In all the time I've spent on the Yahoo site and here, I've managed to miss info on the Alternator Upgrade. Could you please describe the upgrade, how it's done and what it accomplishes?

Chuck, how 'bout I just show you. svxcess has some excelent pics in his locker of the upgrade. Also, if you do a search on (I think) "Wiring upgrade progress report," svxcess also has a great explanation of the effects.

What, me, scary? Nah... You've got the wrong person... (which one of the two, I'm not sure... )

Unfortunately, phone can't go off even if I find a backup. Just in case the backup has to locate me.

And as far as my (dumba$$) customers go, most are too (dumba$$) thick to appreciate the car. And even if they had an SVX, they'd be too (dumba$$) unknowledgeable to surf the web and find this site.

I've got a few customers that are actually on the ball, but they are few and far in between. Sigh.

Alternator Upgrade

Randy,

Thanks for the info on the alternator upgrade. The pictures were helpful. The search for
"wiring upgrade progress report" and variations on that did not pan out. I looked up SVXCESS
in the members list and found all of his posts. I found all the info I needed. Thanks for putting me on the right track.

Chuck

Chuck,
Always happy to help . . . any time. Sorry 'bout the "rabbit path" on the title. But, glad it worked out.

Why not just call forward all your dumba$$ calls to your cell phone?
You could just pass the phone around the campfire at Canaan to those of us who haven't yet passed out. We'd be glad to advise your customers where to go. Ron.
