Cost of universal ECU diagnostic testor?

Does anybody own one?

Are they resonably priced?

How/Where can I get one?

I have been VERY happy with my Auto X-Ray diagnostic scanner
I have the Ez-Link Pro-pack and it's already paid for itself on my '96 SVX and my 4Runner. I went with the cable for connecting to my pc. This allows printing of reports and graphs plus software downloads from the autoxray site.

You can find the whole set-up on Ebay for $250 +/-

yours cost more, but it does alot more, too. the one i have only retrieves and clears codes - no printing reports and graphs, no sensor testing/monitoring, etc. they sell the one i have (Actron) and the Auto X-ray at JC Whitney, too. i haven't compared prices, though.

Do either of your scanners work with pre-OBD-II cars? I mean, my wife now has an OBD-II Legacy, so I'll need a scanner for that car, but where can I get one for my '93?

Here's the site:
http://www.autoxray.com/products.aspx?sub=scanners&id=1

I don't know if it'd work for your pre-96 cars. There is a list of OBD I cars it works on:

1996 and newer Domestic, Asian and European OBD-II compliant vehicles
1982-1995 GM 12 pin ALDL vehicles
1983-1995 Ford EEC-IV vehicles
1983-1995 Chrysler SCI vehicles
1991-1995 Jeep vehicles

They might be able to tell you if your application is covered.
