If Paintscratch.com can't come up with a match (which still mystifies me), you're choices are essentially down to a Subaru dealership or a body shop.

You said early-on,"Right now I see silver-esque splotches all over." Was it a spray can you ordered from Paintscratch?

No, it was a bottle. And instead of being black/mica paint w/red chips in it, it was a dark silver paint.

It really sounds like they just sent the wrong color (even if they say they didn't)
I know you said that the car was a one owner, but isn't it possible that the previous owner had the car painted?

Find a used car dealer friend. They normally have touchup guys that will do it for you for like 20 bucks for a small area.

I thought you could tell what color the car initally was by the VIN #...If so, someone told me that my number was a black car.

There is a color code, either on the data plate on the driver's side door jamb or atop the front wheel well on the driver's side. (Maybe both places; I don't remember.)

Was the paint you got from Paintscratch labeled correctly?

If your car has been repainted, it's certainly possible that the "black" the paint shop used wasn't a match for the original Subaru ebony.
