WTB Power steering Cap or advice

My plastic seal is shot, I dont know if an Oring will fix it from leaking. I would just rather buy a new one, but its NYA. Anyone have a spare or some advice on the seal would be SUPER!
Thanks in advance and my email is bowman262@aol.com which is a lot faster to contact me.
Darrell

Re: WTB Power steering Cap or advice

You can make a seal for the cap out of an old bike tire inner tube. It's just a little circle cut out.

Re: WTB Power steering Cap or advice

So there IS a seal on the inside of the power steering cap?

What's it look like? A big circle of rubber that covers the whole inside of the cap (with a hole in the middle for the "dipstick")?

Mine has no such seal and occasionally ATF leaks out the top of the resevoir.

The other day CAM was over at my place and since we were dealing with an unrelated PS leak, he took a look at my cap to see if it matched his (he has also had the problem of leaking fluid out the top). Since both our caps matched, we assumed there was no seal there and it was just a "quirk" of the car.

Although I hadn't really noticed a leak until the last year or so, the previous 10 years never had a problem. But I have no idea where the seal would have disappeared to suddenly.

Re: WTB Power steering Cap or advice

The original seal is plastic and fits tightly up against the underside of the cap. IT fits all the way from the center circle to the outer edge. A piece of rubber would work just as well, if not better.
