forged pistons

Need 97mm high compression pistons for 3.3l. Interfearance pistons are OK.

Re: forged pistons

http://www.cp-carrillo.com/ Email these people. I just got a set of 9:1 CR pistons made (see here: http://www.subaru-svx.net/forum/showthread.php?t=58090), but of course they can make them in any CR. They should be able to make 11:1 ones that are non-interference. The non-interference design of this engine is not something that should be sacrificed lightly.

Warning: those pistons were not cheap.

Re: forged pistons

Thanks for the reply. I talked to cp a week ago but though I would check here before I ordered. Wouldn't have to wait 4 weeks.
A non interfearance engine is nice but I don't see the big deal going without that. There are thousands of interfearance engines out there running just fine as long as drivers keep the timing belt in good shape. Am I missing something?

Re: forged pistons

Timing belts break, even brand new ones. Water pumps seize, idlers seize, and the timing belt gets trashed. It does happen. If that can be avoided easily, why not?

The cp pistons I just got seem to be really high quality, well worth the wait (which is short considering it's a custom job after all). An engine build takes a while anyway, so a few weeks isn't really that much.
