Bought Blizzaks for the SVX
I was getting tired of fighting the unplowed hill I live on with my summer tires and happened to run across a set of lightly used Blizzaks locally for $100.
So I went and picked them up. It was dark when I got them but I looked at the tred VERY closely and they looked great. However I overlooked that the aspect ratio on them was 60 and NOT 50. So.. I now I have a set of 235-60-16 Blizzaks on the car. The tires look huge but only very slightly touch the plastic liners in the rear when the car is heavily loaded, 3 adults and a tank of gas. The extra 1 1/2" of ground clearance and snow tire bite has made this car AMAZING in the foul nasty white stuff up here. I was less than impressed with the ice/snow traction previously... however it looks like I just had the wrong tires for the conditions. Anyone know how to bump the rear suspension up about an inch in the rear? Jim

I think autozone or advance sells a spacer type thing that inserts inbetween the coils on the springs. You could try that

235-60-16? Holy carp! Mad Max is cowering in the corner.

I think I just put tires that size on a Honda Oddessy minivan.
The larger radius will put more stress on your driveline, including your transmission. Try not to do anything too crazy, like pulling a stuck Dodge Ram snowplow out of a snowbank with a Princess Auto tow strap. Not that this is from experience or anything.....

The gears will lessen tranny stress compared to a stocker...
And well... I try not to tow with the car. It slows my ETs Jim

I've never had a need for them, but have seen some and thought they looked like a sweet tire. Bstone makes some great tires.

Wish I had known you were looking for snow tires, Jim.
I have a set just sitting in my garage off the SVX... decided I'd just leave the yoko's on all year this year around, it does so good in the snow. Plus, it's more fun with summer tires...

One word of caution is you've not had "real" snow tires before. On those warm days when the pavement is dry watch the distance between you and the car ahead. It's a proven fact that it takes 30% longer to stop on dry warm pavement with snow tires vs summer tires.
Another interesting statistic from Quebec, which just passed a law mandating use of snow tires from Nov to April: 10% of drivers in Quebec currently do not use snow tires. This 10% are involved in 38% of the winter accidents. |

After not being able to get in the driveway again...or still for that matter, we WILL be looking for snow tires for my car. I have no issues anywhere but the drive way. RideRed777...shoot us a price and size on those tires and we will let ya know.
