exhaust sounds

ok, few things here i wanted to ask..

1. will un-equal length headers on and svx make it sound more choppy and thoaty like the sti's....

2. will dividing each exhuast header sound diffrent?? like making dual exhuast but for each manifold, will it sound diffrent then when the pulses or exhuast are combined??

1. No. It will sound like a choppy throaty SVX.

2. Yes. It's been done. I think? I know I've thought of it at least once. Someone around here piped their exhaust out under their doors and I can't remember if the oulets merged or not.

I'm making numerable edits here, but do you just want a nice sounding exhaust? All that fab work is really not necessary.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think we already have "un-equal length headers". I'm pretty sure I've seen "True equal length headers" in part of Tom's (YT) signature/mod list.

This is the exhuast im talking about! God i love the sound of this thing... i know its turbo.... but what do i need to do to my exhaust to make it sound like this!!! right now im running around with no muffler... seems funny but i just havent found anyone with the same intentions of exhuast sound, all i ever hear is flowmasters or magnaflow... and make it sound like a v8... not that thats bad but i just like the boxster chunky style exhaust..., and if you could lead me to anyones locker with an exhaust like i have described that would be great

I didn't hear any stebro, just music. Any real audio clips from svxers w/o background music would be nice.

A cheaper alternative to Stebro would be to take out the stock muffler, place resonator at the pipe that used to connect the muffler, and just pipes from there. It would be a little quieter than my exhaust (I lack the stock resonator), which in my opinion sounds much better than a Stebro.

That Perrin STI used an EZ30 engine. It's different. The sound should be similar, but not exactly the same. Also, if someone was looking to build a true equal length header, they need to take into consideration the fact that the exhaust ports in the heads aren't equal in length and compensate for that in the tubing.. If you want something similar to the Perrin car, then don't run a true dual exhaust. It won't have that smooth, tight, exotic sound.

I've spoken to Scott at Strömung Exhaust Engineering recently, and he's expressed a willingness to work with me fabricating an exhaust system for my SVX.

Not going to be cheap, but nothing with custom work is...

...and it'll be stainless steel.
