Garage it or drive it? (pics)

First off I must say I LOVE my Claret. Runs smoothly and has been slightly modified, and it looks great! It only has 70k miles on it, and I am caught between wanting to drive it all the time, and wanting to keep it in the garage and keep the miles off of it. I bought a factory cup holder for it, it came with the pen light and quite a few service records, including the original bill of sale. Its a very very nice SVX.

Things that have been changed:

Rims (by previous owner)
Slotted/drilled rotors with Bendix pads
Transmission cooler/filter
Speakers (Infinity w/addition of tweeters)
Radio
Alcyone rear center tail light
SVX hood ornament

If I keep driving it as a daily driver I will probably add clear headlights, 97 or smallcar grill, and some other things to make it look nice, but not over the top, I will probably add a few things to give it better performance also.
What do you guys think?

I agree with the thoughts that have been voiced here before...

you bought the car to enjoy it right? Cars are liabilities, not assets. If you are looking to make money, invest in the stock market.

Definately not looking to make money , if I would garage it, it would be to keep a beautiful SVX, in beautiful condition, show quality.
Hard to do that driving it daily in Columbus.

If it were totally stock then it might be worth keeping for a show car, but it has been modified. I would cruise it.

Use it as the summer car parhaps? I don't know what winter is like where you are, but if there's selt on the roads I'd try to keep the nicer car away from it as much as possible, even though the SVX has proven to be incredibly resistant to rust. (Except mine)

According to your sig, the claret is an LS, and the other car is an LSL. LSL's are better suited to winter driving (unless the Claret has a touring package).

Anywho, I'd say make the less nice car the daily driver/winter car, and the nicer car the weekend/summer machine.

Some members here have taken this road. They drive it when it is nice outside and garage it when it is bad weather. That way you can enjoy it, but keep the wear and tear down.

I want to keep this car a long time, so I plan to store it during winters here in Canada. I have use of two other Subarus in the winter so I'll still have the all-wheel drive fun but just with less expensive cars to replace and repair...

Drive?

I drive mine only in nice weather and on longer trips or for special events/trips. Only other time is to exercise it if none of the other uses have come up for a while, but still only nice weather. A couple of mine have minor modifications since I have them to enjoy and not as a collector. I don't care if the value goes up or down--they are still a joy to drive.

Hard to do that driving it daily in Columbus.
Pretty sure it isn't "show" quality (at least the judging shows) . Looks like the rear boot was repainted at some point from the pics. Parking is a pita to do it right. I don't drive mine in the winter and maybe 4x a month in the summer. More this year as I don't have ac in the XT. A garage would be nice and not driving it most of the winter would be nice. An SVX nor even a freaking 427 Cobra bought new and sold today are bad investments but keeping a car alive longer than its 15 year life span ensures that younger generations will enjoy it, that is, provided you take it out for longer trips, shows, etc. There are way to many gloreous cars rotting away in garages that no one gets to see already.

I drive mine everyday to work but it's only about 12 minutes all hwy driving to work. It's now got about 164,000 kms on it. I like to take it out on the weekend for little cruises but I have not had it long enough (4 months) to trust it for long drives (6-8 hours at a time.) I plan to take it to my dealership in the next few weeks and let them go over it carefully to tell me if there is something I should be concerned about or deal with before I take it too far. I do love this car and know that I could never afford to buy anything anywhere near as nice as this thing new, so I plan to baby it for many years.
That includes storing it every winter for 3-4 months depending on the weather. Problem is I don't have a garage so I'm going to have to find one I can use or a good storage facility....

Summer cruiser, winter garage queen. If people want to see it in the winter, they can come over

Before anything though....take an afternoon and detail the ever-loving heck out of it. Brush the seats, shine up the woodgrain, wash it, clay bar it, polish it, wax it, polish the lights, and wipe the jambs out,Armorall the rubber bits, clean the engine bay, armorall the vacuume lines, and viola! the car is 10x better than before. You'd be suprised how much more attention a clean car gets. My stance is...enjoy the car. If you're gonna drive it, drive it. If it's a show peice, just enjoy taking the time to keep it looking as such. Or do a bit of both
