SVX sold new in N.Z.

Attention James,

You were asking for data on sales in various countries. I approached Subaru N.Z. some time ago and have now obtained a figure. They had to check back records which was not easy as it appears there has been a change of ownership and they were therefore quite obliging.

They quote total sales of new cars as 57 (fifty seven). This figure they can not guarantee but it should be fairly accurate and the best you will get.

There will be more in the country imported second hand as mine was. I would guess at a dozen or more. I was told by Subaru that the last car was sold new in 1996 at a price of NZ$100,000 odd, earlier sales being made at NZ$110,000 odd.

I purchased my imported Japanese car in May 2000, (1992, registered 1993, 82000 kms ) for NZ$18,000 and was the first NZ owner. The car was and is in near new condition in all respects and has had nothing done to it other than replacing normal expendibles. It has run without a fault of any kind and I am very happy with it.

I have noticed that you refer to Ògray importsÓ but there is nothing illegal in this respect here and imported used cars make up a substantial number of new registrations. These are a good buy much to the chagrin of the new car suppliers, many of whom have had to get into the act by offering Òapproved vehiclesÓ of their respective make.

I trust the above information will be of interest and an assistance in compiling your data.

Regards, Trevor.

Thanks for looking up that data Trevor.

I am going to try and contact Subaru Australia and see if they can give me a breakdown of the colours that were sold and to verify the actual numbers sold.

Hopefully we will soon have a fair idea of each market.

Regards

James

Good #s

That's not a bad total, Trevor, seeing as how there were only about 280 or so sold in the UK for the entire run.

Ewe sheepmen know a good car when you see it.
