THE INDUCE ACT

2. The Inducing Infringement of Copyrights Act ('Induce Act') was
recently signed into law. The Act provides that '[w]hoever intentionally
induces any [copyright infringement] shall be liable as an infringer.'

3. The Induce Act further defines the term 'intentionally induces' to
mean 'intentionally aids, abets, induces, or procures, and intent may be
shown by acts from which a reasonable person would find intent to induce
infringement based upon all relevant information about such acts then
reasonably available to the actor, including whether the activity relies
on infringement for its commercial viability.' Under this law, the
Defendants are liable for up to $150,000 for each song illegally copied by
iPod users and all iPods must be declared illegal.

MS Windows helps a lot of people illegally copy music. Should they be fined then?

that is a cut and paste from the law itself. i imagine that updates of the windows media suite will have copyright protection similar to the aol music store. you can download music from aol for free but u cant burn it or copy the files to a diferent location without buying it.

Can a horse actually ride on a mule?

They can stop producing new music, purchase the planet, the solar system, and even the galaxy while they are at it, with all the money they will make from the fines. Imagine that...the Imperials and Darth Vader could end up actually working for the RIAA.

That's a lot of zeros!
