Handy hint - Climate Control System!
I am not sure if anybody already knows about this, but when I mentioned it to Paul, Michelle, and Arthur, they didn't know about it.....
....so here goes! (please note that this tip will only work on the RHD climate control system, as LHD systems are different!) Normally, if you want to open the interior vents, you are forced to activate the Climate Control, by pressing "Auto" or the mode or fan speed buttons. However, I have found that there is a way to open up the interior vents (for fresh or recirculated air) without triggering the Climate Control. When the Climate Control is off, simply push the fresh air/recirculate button! This will open up the interior vents, allowing fresh air to flow through (only if you are moving, as the fan does not run). The display will show "Manual" and the current ventilation mode (fresh/recirculated) - and nothing else! You can then press the same button to switch between fresh air and recirculated air. I have checked my 1992 owner's manual, and this "feature" is not mentioned anywhere! .....hope this is of some help! Jason.

Yo
Thanks Jason,
That trick is not mentioned in the owner's manual, but the one I have is US model, and the aircon is a different type. I learned that trick from Todd's [wawazat] wife Wendy, so it may work in the US models also. Perhaps it has some similarity in function to the Econ mode the US cars have? Joe

From what I understand, the LHD (USDM) models have a dedicated "Vent" button, which has the same effect as my "trick"!
Jason.

The VENT button on ours will always use the fan but we have no way of selecting the temperature. (Heat doesn't come from the dash vents anyway)

you can also use mode control to select which vents you want without blower fan running.
