Code 24

I just checked my codes b/c of an occasional stall at idle and i pulled a code of 24 which comes up as follows:

24 By-pass air control solenoid valve By-pass air control solenoid valve inoperative.
(Abnormal signal in monitor circuit.)

Could this be my cause of intermittent stall at idle only???and what can i do to replace this??? I'm not near my manual right now so i can't look at it and see where thiis thing is at to try and fix/sccrew with it...Thanks for any and all advice

Yes it is most a likely it and it'sa not a common problem. This allows air to by pass the throttle plate in the throttle body, when at idle. It is a control valve that uses a solenoid to control the position of the valve. It bolts to the throttle body and has a hose from the intake pipe connected to it. I think its part #2 here.

The fact that you have a trouble code indicates that the problem is electrically related as the system works on the basis of returned electrical signals. However you should check the hoses and connections at the same time as you check wiring and connections the latter being important.

As you report the problem as intermittent a faulty connection is likely. You are not dealing with a ÒsensorÓ but rather an electrically operated twin solenoid valve which has three connections i.e. negative, + on, + off.
