Re: Carfax? how screwed am I?

I almost went British with a 2002 Jaguar X-type instead of the SL. Everything I read about them was bad... I rarely keep a car more than a year or two but I'd like to be about to DRIVE it while I have it... I love the new (to me) SL, it looks great sitting in my garage I ordered the strut mounts today and the mechanic has the hard top clamped back down so i'm good for now

You obviously didn't read between the lines. Only real issue with it is the auto tranny and that is when it isn't cared for properly. The rest of the car is simply bulletproof. Sure there are some cheapout things around like the fuel door and such but not as cheap as some of the parts in a bmw 3 series. Build quality blows Subaru's Indiana plant away.

I know that SL will cost ya plenty! They're fun cars but pricey to keep going.

Tell me about it! I have had to have mine towed 5 times in 2500 miles of ownership! Time to move on!

+1 for the Brit! My TVR only needed a flatbed once and when it got to where it was going it started right up I hope you have unlimited AAA towing. I'll be quite interested to see what you get next. Aston Martin Vantages seem to be bottoming out. How bout a nice Jensen Interceptor with a Chrysler big block? Alfa Spiders are finally on the rise so a couple year investment in one should net ya a break even ride once everything is considered.
