Worst Cars Ever...
I was browsing in Barnes & Noble this evening and came across a thick book called "The Worst Cars Ever Sold" by Giles Chapman. Of course, our beloved SVX was in there. Being one of those cheap in-house titles that B&N churns out by the hundreds that are frequently on sale for 70% off on the 'Last Chance' rack, I didn't put much stock in Chapman's opinion (if he even actually wrote it, rather than a bunch of trained monkeys, er, interns.) Most of his criticism of the SVX seemed to center on the "odd" window arrangement, which he said was useless for ventilating the cabin, the poor fuel economy (granted), and the "cheap plastic" used on the interior. (Has this guy even seen an SVX in person?) Finally, I really got a kick out of his statement that Subaru tried to recoup some of their losses on the SVX by using the 3300 H-6 engine in later Legacys and Foresters! Now there WAS that one H-6 powered Forester on ebay, but...

Anyone............
That badmouths our SVX's has a lot to learn.
I have owned, rented, and driven many different types of cars for 55 years. The last 50 years I have driven at least 50,000 miles each year. Yes, that is more than 2,500,000 miles. The SVX is fantastic to drive across the country in and it is an extremely safe car to drive. We get pretty good gas mileage for a car that is responsive at any speed. Probably the most comfortable car I have ever driven and I love the feeling of control that I have on the road. It is easy to understand why people can't just have one!! The guy that badmouthed our cars needs to get a life. Obviously has never driven one. Last edited by kwren; 10-28-2007 at 01:23 AM. |

I just today rode in a GMC Envoy. Nice interior
if you like CRAP. it had all the accoutrements (sp (heated seats, 2 radios, cool info thingies, buttons all over)) but it also had what plagues modern American cars, cheap **** plastic interior panels that fade into 15 different colors all over the place. It was a fantastic interior, if you are into gadgetry (I am) and have never driven an SVX (:/), or that BMW X5 we parked next to which seemed to be beautifully sculpted yet has ugly tailpipes. Ah well.

That makes no sense. In stop and go traffic i average 18ish mpg. My highest mpg was 28+ on a cross country trip, that seemed pretty fair to me, especially compared to what many of the luxury cars have these days, let alone the sports cars, and i had a 5speed at the time. 3.90 vs the factory 3.54 FDR, I would think i'd have hit 30+mpg easily had i had a stock automatic transmission.
The windows I love, because I hate wind in my face, but love the feel of fresh air in hte car. I can have the windows all the way down, and I'm not being blasted in the face with 50mph air. That guy has never touched an SVX, I'm sure. The dash is leather, which doesn't fade or crack like plastic dashes you see in so many cars. The only thing not leather or suede is the woodgrain, and even that is pretty nice. I'd like to see another car that had the EG33 from the factory from Subaru in a last-ditch attempt to recoup their losses. Simply put, there was none, and the closest thing i believe was the 2.5litre H-6 in the B06 tribeca, though i'm not entirely sure on that one.

Somewhere out there is someone who hates everything, and they often write about it. Go on with your enjoyment of the SVX. Remember that few people who read this drivel could pick out a SVX in a parking lot full of other cars. The guy who wrote the article probably drives a ....... wait a minute, I don't want to be guilty of the same thing.

I got that book too. A long while ago. If you keep looking in it you'll also find the Subaru XT too. F*** that. That guy is a complete retard.
Funny you metion Barns & Noble I'm going to get a concept book Right now. With the Subaru F-9X and italian designers (Giorgetto Giugiaro). It also has one another concept car that was just auctioned off in Hershey P.A. last September. I was there and I did't even know it was designed by him.
