I think the kelly blue book value is 4500 to 5000. But honestly most people probably are looking for the svx's that are under 4000. The cars are getting up there in age.

Another problem might be the time of year. People who have winter are less interested in car purchases when it is -10F outside.

If I had the money (and didn't own 3 already), I would definitely be interested in a rust free SW car.

This is definitely true. Thats why prices for convertibles are more in summer than winter. If you wanted to test the waters then spring would be a better time to get the most money possible.

Re: feeler : 1996 SVX LSi Bordeaux

Its 73deg and sunny in Las Vegas One of the reasons its not getting driven is because its soo nice I've been using my SLK. I realize the price is strong but I have done a lot of research on the competition out there.. This is, as previousy mentioned, a rust free SW car with no wacky mods or shade tree mechanic maintenance. The only thing that bugs me about it is the paint work. If i were keeping it longer i'd repaint. Though it looks fine it has some minor issues consistent with being an 18yo paint job.

Re: feeler : 1996 SVX LSi Bordeaux

they are getting older and harder to find. the 92,93,94 technically qualify as "classics" (cheaper to register and insure in NV) and price out at $5,800-$6,500... but very difficult to find in original condition on the open market. There are a few nut jobs asking $20,000 for them but I dont think we've quite hit that territory.

From my understanding that suggested retail pricing is dealer price, if you look at private party sales thats lower.

I Hope the price increases on these but at the same time I don't care that much I dont intend to sell mine, I thought about getting another but probably not going to happen.

Thats great weather there but I was thinking of appealing to a larger market. I bought mine from Cali but it was shipped to MD. I wouldn't do that unless the weather was willing to cooperate with that transport across the country.

Then again, if someone is willing to pay top dollar for a clean rust-free SVX, then they probably have a garage they could keep it in.

Re: feeler : 1996 SVX LSi Bordeaux

I don't think the price is out of line. You're just not going to sell it here. List it on craigslist, perhaps considering consigment at a respectable used car dealership in the area. Sure, you'll lose some off the top (10% is about the normal) but car buying is 95% impulse. On a dealership, someone will drive by, rubberneck and want it. Listing online, people will then do full research, see others priced lower (doesn't matter how nice) as well as see the issues and problems. If a dealership does their job, they should be able to get you good money and they themselves will profit a bit as well. My $.02

Re: feeler : 1996 SVX LSi Bordeaux

I wasnt hanging all my hopes on selling it here. Mostly I just wanted to give the network first shot at it. I'd rather see it go to someone who knows what it is and respects it. The new windshield alone is a big chunk of the value in this car. I really wanted some educated opinions about the condition and what my expectation should really be.
