Re: I think Nate should be a MOD!!!

I agree..there should be more people promoted as the current mods don't frequent often enough.

Case and point:
It took almost 2 months for me to be accepted here. I had to ask Nate to ask a mod, to do it.

Re: I think Nate should be a MOD!!!

Unfortunately, mods do not have the power to accept new members. Only a select few admins who have access can do that. More mods would help us to keep threads in the right place.

I totally agree. Threads are all over the place lately. I voted for Nate.

Re: I think Nate should be a MOD!!!

Alright, I'll pipe in here. First of all, if I were asked to be a Mod, I would feel honored but this all came up because of a conversation I was having with Eric.

Basically, the current Admin/Mod setup needs to have a close look taken at it. Of the current Admins, I believe there are 3 who have not shown activity in over 2 years (There are also mods that are no longer active). This is of no help to this forum or this community. There are potential members who I have had to PM Earl to let him know to activate them. Charlie was one of them and there was another one that had been waiting for over a month. This again, is going to turn away potential members. Do you really think someone is going to come back if they don't get activated after a week, 2 weeks, and how about 2 months as it was for Charlie.
The other thing is there are a lot of posts being posted in inproper threads and lately there has been a lot of spam posts. It's annoying when there is spam posted by phony members but yet actual people wanting to get on the site aren't even getting activated.

There, rant over. That was the basis of Eric creating this thread/poll the other night.

Im sayin...its kinda odd to ask "hey can I be a mod?"...you would only contribute to the forum so I threw some gas on the flame!

Some of that stuff is easily fixed:

Allow self activation via e-mail and have a strong capcha be a part of the registration.

As for people not knowing where to post, that's a user problem that mods sorta have to correct.

Very true, and that is the issue at hand, threads are not usually moved as they should. At times they do, but most times not. I just think it would keep things a little clearer in each subforum.

The self activation could be a good idea but couldn't a bot or spam of some sort still be able to do something of this nature? (sorry, I don't care enough to know how bots work)

You guys can help us keep this place in order by reporting posts/threads in the improper location, no mod rights required.

The forum is about to go through another large upgrade shortly, you should have Chris' ear then.
