The Hybrid Tourer at the Los Angeles show

Just thought you might like to see some "non factory" shots of the Hybrid Tourer Concept as it appeared at the Los Angeles Auto Show. These were taken on press day, so there was almost no one around.

You know what Paul, I completely forgot to check this car out at the show. Didn't know it was there. Relatively decent design from recent Subaru, it slightly reminded me of Alfa Romeo Brera or 149.

BTW, my car will be ready soon, maybe we should do Mini meet!

Thanks for sharing the great pics Paul! The variety of angles help one see the knife-edged lines and changes of plane more clearly. Love what that does with the silver paint!! I have to admit I think I'm starting to LIKE it!

Those tail lights are extremely similar to the ones i have in mind for a redesign of the SVX, i like their style but in a SVX they need to keep the original wraparound shape.

There are slight rumors of a SVX resurrection, using existing Subaru tech, and the design language from the Hybrid Tourer, but in coupe format.

It is unclear as to whether that IS the Subaru half of the FT-86 project with Toyota, or whether it would be another, larger GT coupe. Although the Subaru version of the FT86 is supposed to be larger than the Toyota version, probably based on the GR Impreza, which itself is based on the BL 05-09 Legacy, which if properly equipped and styled... would be pretty much spot on perfect size, just slightly smaller than the original SVX, and just a touch shorter in length than the 05-09 Legacy sedan.

I hope something interesting comes of this, and I hope it is good-interesting, not completely off-the-reservation-bizarre, and a product without a true use. RX8 has somewhat fallen into that crack, and is hovering in limbo between sedan and coupe.

I dont like a SVX that is not derived directly from the original one, but an entirely new design... its like an Optimus Prime badge in a Johny 5 robot..
