Re: Bringing an SVX back from the brink. My winter car.

Is there something wrong with it that made them consider it only good for parts? I see the hood alignment is a little off.

Is this the same guy who has salvage SVX parts listed on e-bay from about 3 different cars?

No. We do not generally offer parts to the public.

Re: Bringing an SVX back from the brink. My winter car.

Today I did a lot of stuff to the car. I installed a glove box. It was missing for some reason. I also installed a factory radio. Then I moved on to cleaning it. This was the most dirty car I've ever seen! I actually had to use a scrub brush on the paint to get the dirt off of the car. The hose was doing NOTHING.

When I received the car, the brakes weren't working too well. As it turns out, the brake lines going to the rear wheels were bad. Those are replaced and the brakes are working great.

On my first drive, I was very surprised at how nice the car is. The engine works nicely, transmission shifts fine through all gears. In fact, I originally thought the AWD wasn't working, but now I believe it actually is! There is a little bit of rear bearing noise, but for a winter car I'll live with that!

Sean-

Here is a list of what was/is wrong with the car:

*The brakes didnt work
*The glove box was missing
*The stereo was missing
*Sunvisors both missing
*Power steering leak
*Wheel bearings starting to go bad
*Lots of dents and some rust spots.

That combined with it having almost 250k miles, I believe is why the previous owner marketed it as a parts car. I didn't have very high expectations, so I was surprised at how nice it is. I'll drive it until it wont go anymore, and then i'll have a good parts car in the end!

Mike

A winter car that can be called "snow white."

Nice job, cleaned up well, and kudos for keeping another one rolling for a while longer.

That is a Barrecrafters Unisport rack for the SVX. They have been discontinued for about 10 years. I had two of them which I sourced through a shop in Vermont that was going out of business and had some new old stock. I offered one for sale on here and sold it in about 6 hours.
