Sorry to repost: Which HID kit is best??

I tried searching in the MOD forum but I couldnt find the previous thread I read about "Apexicone?" HID kits.... which had a link to their site. I know this belongs in the mod forum but that part of the forum is a ghost town compared to Tech QA. A lot of the posts I COULD find were all over the place (searching for "HID" gives zero results). I was thinking about 55w 8000K set, does anyone run with this low-beam configuration? (I know higher temp gives less lumens, but I like the blue-white look). EBay seems to have a gaggle of different sets from 3500K up to 35000K, but I remember someone recommending Apexicone (spelling?) and I havent been able to find them again. I am hoping for some good advice and a nudge in the right direction, Thanks

That would be this thread I believe.

http://www.subaru-svx.net/forum/show...ighlight=5000k

8000k is going to be purple/reddish. If you're looking for the blue/white look I would go wtih the 5000 or 6000k

I've had my set from DDM for about 2 months. The kit is very nice.

I've got pure white 5000K. 6000K is just slightly blue. I think a lot of people have 6000K for that nice, just slightly blue, look you're going for.

Re: Sorry to repost: Which HID kit is best??

I just picked up the Xetronic digital h3 3000k for the fogs. I'm taking pictures for a writeup. I would have preferred to get them from Tom, but I wanted yellow for the fogs. I'm tired of everyone flashing me all night long because it looks like a 70's car with 4 headlights. Back to the kit, it is one of the simplest hookups I have ever seen with integrated ballast/ignitor. I cut the wires to the h3 bulbs, pulled them out, put in butt connectors, drilled the larger hole in the dust cap, and done. Everything works with the stock buttons, the fogs are significantly brighter than the low beams. I like them a lot, could have put them in under 20 min if I was more familiar (or the temp was above freezing). Ballasts are maybe 3x3x.5, very clean, very simple.
