i'm thinking of swaping my whole interior from my parts car to my car.

was wondering if anyone done this before?

my only worry is with the dash. i've done it on bimmers before and it's a pain in the ass... i wonder if the svx is any easier...

I don't really have a DIY but I can answer pretty much any question about the interior.

svx dash is a pece of cake. A while back I did a writeup that should help with the rest...link here(dont worry Earl, its a REAL link)

as for the dash board, you need to remove some of the woordgrain bits, the dash cluster, radio cage and climate control to access a few bolts...but basicly, theres two behind the gauges, one somewhere behind the radio, a screw where the ash tray sits, two screws behind the glovebox,a row of screws on each side of the lowest part of the center part of the dash, and the two on the outsides of the main dash that you can see once the door is open.

if you actually have ALL the parts, it really is a pretty easy job. Itll make for a full days work, but it isnt that hard
you WILL need a t4 tourque saftey bit to get the airbags out, but a decenthardware store should have it

If you are changing the color of the dash, seats, and everything else, you defnitely need to change the carpet too. I don't think the grey and beige would go together very well. Same goes for the headliner, back shelf, door and rear side panels, door sills, etc. All or nothing.

What years are the two cars? Does one have manual seat belts and one automatics? This would present a whole new issue as several of the parts are not "directly" compatible - rear side panels, a/b pillar trim, entire carpet piece, etc.

It's all in the details.

I'll trade you. Oh wait, no I won't, I love my interior. Mmmmm. I'm going to go enjoy it now. Bwa ha haaa!!

Good luck Octanerush on the swap though. As said before, this type of work isn't really "hard," just time consuming. If you have the tools you need and any kindof common sense, you'll be just fine.

both my cars are identical 92 svx with powered seatbelts drivers airbag. no passenger airbag... so all the parts should be interchangable.

ya i'm gonna be swapping the headliner and the back shelf too and i guess the carpet also

Wrong cars, John!

I know all about Mike's fantastic restoration job.

I was wondering what two cars octanerush was dealing with (the subject at hand). He is replacing a beige interior with a gray one, backwards of what Mike did. So I'm wondering if they have the same seat belt set up or if he might possibly be backwards converting to auto belts, etc. Or planning leaving the interior two different colors in the interest of not messing with the belts.

If one has the beige interior, and has auto seatbelts, its not a 92. Its a 93.

heres some of the exterior

oh ya the drivers seat (like most svx i've seen) the stitching came apart in the middle otherwise the interior is in excellent condition
