What if.......

My SVX came with two remotes. One still works and the other died

They failed for no reason? Wouldn't they have to fail for one reason or another My one failed because the little wire on the inside broke. I'm sure it(the electronics) still works but it cannot transmit the frequency(or whatever).

You know, you guys could always just replace the alarm. Even a $25 model from JC Whitney, with working remotes, would be better than not having one at all. The passive arming feature is really useless anyway, because you can pull the horn relay in less than 30 seconds. I know, I had to do this one day when the remote's batteries died at a parking lot and I couldn't get a replacement without getting in the car! I've yet to be unhappy with my current Alpine system, except for when my girlfriend lost the pager! Oh, and the remote uses a standard CR2025 watch battery that can be found anywhere and lasts a couple of years even with daily use.

Yeah I know, I'm being snobby.

I am the original owner of my '(& LSi. Bot6h remote fobs work. The only trouble I had was the bad dealership by my house screwed up the remote on the car's third service and had to give me a new one. Also replacing the tiny batteries in one of the fobs was a royal pain in the a*s. I have fat fingers. Now I use the single Radio Shack battery.

Both fobs work on my '92 LSL. I even painted one fob and one key pearl white with cheap nail polish so I would not confuse them with the fob & key for my '97.

PS: Does having 2 SVXes make a person "Bisvxual"?
Not that there's anything wrong with that.

I bought my new keyfob after I'd had the car for about a year. Still operating on the original battery pack. I ordered a second, used, fob about 6 months later. I installed a battery and it's still going strong.

You can get them from http://www.subaruparts.com for about 50 bucks. (Which is good. I paid almost 70 from my local dealer, before discovering subaruparts.com).

That was my first impression . . . ugly and cheap looking. But, they are kind of unique from anything I've seen. The orange comes from the original representation of the logo. It generally appears as it is on the bottom of the fob: SVX logotype surrounded by a red-orange field. It's that way on the owner's manual, and also on the early brochures I have. I suppose the dot is to accentuate the field.

My Alarm system was working when I got the car. The next week I replaced the stereo with an after market one and now it won't arm. ... but I have two (good?) fobs. I'm thinking I'll have an aftermarket alarm and remote lock added. any sugestions?

No factory alarm nor keyfobs here to speak of.

www.bulldogsecurity.com I've been happy with their products. May as well get one with remote start and add in a power trunk release too. Or a power window module to open/close the windows or sunroof.
