Exclamation Found A Plastic Gear Under The Car

I parked my SVX in the garage today and found a small white plastic gear under the front passenger side of the engine bay. Now when I turn the car on it makes a grinding/clicking noise before idling

WHAT THE HELL IS IT FROM?????????????

I will try to get a picture and post it.

A picture and better description of the size of the gear might speed things up.

It is a very small gear (maybe about an inch in diameter). One side is threaded and the other side is smooth with a half circle notch. I drove the car and nothing seemed different. I was messing around with the MAF and air intake when I heard something drop. That is when I found this gear. My air intake is making a god awfull squeeking noise whenever I step on the accelerator and on the initial turn on and turn off, but I don't think it is related.

I am going to post the pic in a minute.

Here is the best I could do for the picture. Hopefully it works.

Hmmm, where is svxfiles when you need him. I have no idea what that’s from and I have taken the intake apart many times. Nor can I think of what would use a plastic Archimedes ladder gear.

It's possible it came from something else that was in my garage. I forgot the guys were fixing the gears in the garage door opener last night.

I hope thats it.

i would want to say thats it. im almost positive that their is nothing on the svx that would use that gear. recheck what you did with the intake, did you rehook the vacume line, and is everything snug. a loose fitting or unpluged vacume could give you the harmonic at start and WOT.

I would say that it is something else. I have never seen anything that looks like that off of the SVX.

I've never seen it but I've heard the gear for the speed sensor is plastic. Does your speedometer work?
