I've done done that. When my son was like 1 month old and I sliced my fingers open, except my wife was driving me at like 110 in a 35 zone passing cars on corners I didn't think I was gonna live to make it to the hospital.....but at least it took my mind off the pain

Had to do that a few months ago. As some of you may know I have no back seat in my SVX and I was getting ready to go to a meet but I had to drop my kids off first but I left the radio on in my wagon and killed the battery. I had no jumper cables so I had to load the kids in the SVX. I put my 5 year old son in the pass seat (that has no harness yet) and stuck my 10 year old girl in the trunk (she loved it!) and then drove very slowley to the sitters house.

But seriously, I'm going to try by whatever means necessary to retain possession of the vehicle. One card in my pocket is that the car was originally my wife's. She loves the car. If I can keep it running, fix it as economically as possible, I should be able to "logically" argue for its continued presence in our driveway.

Then lets see about sneaking in some mods!

Well, heck -- why don't you just use the Conti Flip-Top in emergencies?

[QUOTE=Canuck]I think you're on to something .... how about some thing like "It's not just a car, it's a reminder of you, every time I drive it I think of you and all the reasons (besides the cool car) that I love you" or, "selling this car would be closing the book on a great love story, let's not close the book, let's just keep adding more and more chapters"

... I'll second Canuck's recommendations.

Now go trade in that van for a restored WWII military ambulance.
You'll have earned enough marital brownie points to cover you through the next two melted trannies.

Ron.

My guess is you have paid off the car by now so just go out and buy a 3rd car! Keep the SVX for the weekend driver.

Can you drop a kid or two off with a person next door and haul to the emergency room? The SVX is a way of life.

I like the suggestion of a 2nd SVX to but there are none left. They are all with Earl. The North West is hording. We are slowly moving all the SVX's up here.

There's a new invention here in Germany called an automatic dishwasher. So nobody has to actually do the dishes at my house. Of course, we still discuss who has to fill and empty the darned thing

that's a whole other battle I am waging. The wife has her eyes set on that car as well. I've been able to hide it quite effectively for the past year (not easy to do with something that is 19 feet long and weighs 5500 lbs.)

the other thing is, there are no seat belts in the front. I'm going to remedy that. (the Duesenberg accident in Ohio put that in focus quite well)

Also, don't know if I would be able to afford the gas to get us to the hospital!

regards

ken

Um, not to be a vulture, but if you end up getting rid of the Continental, let me know. I've wanted a white 64 for as long as I can remember.
