Painting Flat Red

I am thinking of painting my car a flat red. Would it protect the same as a glossy finish? Anyone else have there car a flat colour.

Can't wax flat so water will stand and more dirt will stick. also make sure to get enough down not like 2 spray cans for the whole car kinda job. and MY vote would be for flat black instead. Assuming you must go flat colors

Significant Technical Input
Flat black, as in BBQ flat black? AMC (aka Rambler) had an option in the '60s that resembled flat black. It was supposed to protect the car body for dang near forever. Funny, even gov't. agencies shied away from it as being too ugly. I can only recall seeing one and it indeed looked like crap. Every single thing, like pigeon poop, etc. sticks better to a textured surface. You can't just rinse stuff off, it has to be scrubbed. My advice would be to sell the car and buy a bus pass.

If you get it done professionally, they actually spray a non-glossy clearcoat on. That means you still wash/wax as any normal paint job.

If you do it yourself with rattle-cans...then I have no idea what you would do to keep it clean.

I'm just laughing way too hard to say that was mean. When I stop rolling on the floor, I'll try to tell you though, OK?

What exactly are you looking to do? are you doing a spray paint jobber? or are you having this proffesionally done?

(i actually kind of like the flat black on the SVreX, however not something I'd use as a show car)

Flat red = iron oxide primer = East L.A. show car.

Just taking it to the next obvious level.

I would like to make it a rally car so nothing fancy something easy to get done and it would be a professional job.
