What can I check myself...

...on a LOW mile 94 I'm looking at to buy if i have it on a lift? It'd be at a dealership so I can't really get another objective opinion there.

Why don't you have them throw a dealer plate on it & take it your mechanic (or just ot a different shop) to have it checked out? All ya gotta do is ask ... they'll only say 'no' if they're trying to hide something.

Good idea-I have to travel 600 miles to see it and it's a dealer who "has 3 other people" dying for it, of course.

Dunno how anxious they'd be toi have it inspected-owned by a mega millionaire who finally traded it to the salesman blah blah...

I'd only be satisfied to go there and see myself and use my ancient mechanic skills.

I'm terrible at buying cars, especially if I have cash in my pocket and I want the kind of car I'm looking at...but anyway, here's one site with some general recommendations

http://www.carbuyingtips.com/used.htm

this is just my opinion, but if you look at prices on Edmunds or Kelly (www.kbb.com) the retail price from a dealer means a spotless car with no leaks or issues of any sort. If it's any thing less than that, then I would immediately move to private party sale prices and judge it by condition. Go to Kelly and download all the price info for various conditions, etc.
