My sister (when i was in the car) got a ticket for speeding, being the second fastest car... The cop said (and i quote) "so you were just following that other guy?, well, i didn't think i could catch him" and then he walked back to his car to write my sister the ticket... what kind of law inforcement is that??

when he came back, he said he clocked the other guy going 80, and my sister was only at 75, in a 55 MPH zone. so dumb

This is by far the easiest car I've owned in 37 years of driving to find myself 20 over the limit, and I've had to adjust my awareness wa-a-a-a-ay up!
[/B]

My thoughts exactly, at least in a 5 speed people have to shift to start speeding, with these automatics, its just all fun and nice, and then you look down to 80-90mph like, "oh, was that me"

my only advice is to keep you eyes peeled and figure out the hiding spots. always watch the off-ramps behind you.

if i EVER get caught i give everyone full permission to flame my busted arse.

Ive gotten more speeding tickets in my mom's jeep cherokee then in my RX-7, and the SVX. None in either sports car. Go figure. RX-7 was a beast til 162 then it slowed down considerably.
Nitto 555R's all around on that tho....

The titanium in the SVX windshield severely shortens the range of alert. Best thing to do is use the detector as a "wake up call" when you're driving around. When you get the false alerts, check your speed and make sure you're not going more than ten over (which they'll usually let pass, unless you're in a school zone).
I don't see the point of radar detectors any more. Instant-on can't be detected until 'you're screwed!'

I've never owned a radar detector and I've never had a speeding ticket in the SVX. It's not for lack of trying, either, despite my earlier beratement of NikFu... But in the past few years I have definitely adopted the 'don't get noticed' philosophy.

My last speeding ticket was in early '98. I deserved it. I'll deserve the next one I get, but hopefully I can keep myself within that 'inconspicuous' envelope so I don't get one.

It's saved my butt several times in smaller towns. Seems the "local yokels" get "hand-me-downs" that still register. So, despite the ones I HAVE gotten, the detector does help . . . a little bit.

Looking back at those 37 years behind the wheel I will make one thing crystal clear:

I Never Got a Speeding Ticket I Didn't Deserve!!

Yep... I'd have to agree with that... I have never gotten a speeding ticket that I didn't deserve... I have deserved many that I hadn't gotten though
