I saw my first SVX at the dealer in 1993 when we where looking for an all wheel drive car to get up our driveway from hell. Mountain road driveways covered in snow can be trickey. So there it was in the showroom. I said my god, I was afraid to ask, how much is that. We purchased a 91 Legacy that now has 350.000 killometers on it.What an incredible car it is.Would we by another Subaru? My wife currently is looking for another Legacy. Me... SVX SVX SVX. The dealership in town is great.Constantly above and beyond the call of duty.

** but most of all, that type of car was dying... toyota supra, BMW 850, SVX, Mazda RX-7... they all died, and the main reason for this, is the rise of the F***ing SUV... that price range was now going towards large luxury SUVs instead of GTs... all of those cars were killed by people not buying them. I think there was even a page dedicated to all the cars SUVs have killed, (think it was posted on here at sometime) the SVX came into the game just a little too late, and combined with other previously stated problems, never sold enough to make it mainstream. (btw this is just my opinion, but feel free to argue against it)

I forgot to point that out too. That is one of the main reasons why these cars died out. I love SUVs but I also done a lot of off roading. SUV for city driving to drive to and from work is useless (unless you are hauling big items). Most people who buy SUVs buy them for show. If I have a SUV, that will will have dirt/mud/sand on it most of the time.

Thumbs up Love @ 1st sight!

Father's Day, 1992: my buddy (who works as the Corvette specialist at the downtown 80+ year old Chevy/Subaru store) drove the Factory rep's Claret SVX LSi to a Father's Day brunch we were attending. We traded cars for the ride home. WOW!

The 1st time there was a new, SVX loss-leader in the Saturday Auto Section in the Oregonian we bought one, for $23K, as I recall.

Never looked back & never regretted it for a moment. The first winter snowstorm I drove calmly by while all the Nissan Z, Supra, RX7, Corvette, BMW, etc. drivers went slipping and sliding to the side of the road to chain up A couple Audi and, of course, the other Subaru drivers, were getting around jus' fine! Turns heads 11 years & 100K+ later, and it runs like a top.

At least 5 years before its time, IMHO. For 23 BIG one$ now-a-days you get your basic, mid-level 4WD SUV or a 2WD Pacifica...
Or a decent 1/2 ton truck.

BLUG!

Calm down.
