my new SVX Leaking oil

I just purchased a 92 LS-L and I noticed its leaking oil around the seals and on a long trip it drips on to the exhaust and smokes. I was just wondering around how much am I looking to spend to replace all the main seals on the engine? I know that labor is the most expensive part. And would I be better off going to a subaru dealer to get the work done?

my non-dealer mechanic did all my seals, belts, plugs, waterpump, and thermostat for about $400 bucks. good luck.

o/t: by the way does anyone know if shopkey 5 (software) is any good? i'm trying to grab a copy of it from someone i know and didn't know if it was worth the time to get it. guess it's like some repair and estimate software for mechanics. does anyone know if it's any good for subaru's?

Check out my parts discount thread...I should be able to help you with the parts at least. Just let me know all of the seals that you need and I will give you a price quote. Subaru's are bleeders and generally need new valve cover gaskets, cam seals and the main seal. The parts are pretty inexpensive and with a 20% discount it's even better.
