Why steel-braided brakelines may be a good mod one day

Customer brought in a Teal 96 SVX to my shop
the other day w/ 100k miles on it.
We did front pads and rotor and Konis on it.
A few days later it came back with a brake problem.
Seems the RF brakeline was on its way out and just
from being in that area the other day and removing
the caliper etc around, the line finally split....

this is a pic

of the pass side where the leak was and brake
fluid was spewing out...
(the stock line has been removed) the new line
is half way on.
For tools all you need if I can recall is a 17mm open
end wrench, pliers, and a 10mm Brakeline wrench.
Brakelines wrenches can be had at any Checker auto etc
and a must when working around these fittings to prevent
stripping the outter nut on the line....

after a few minutes

the new lines on...
After you install the lines, youll need to bleed the
brake system.
If you do all 4 lines, you start with the RR caliper bleeder
first, then the LR, then the Rf and lastly you do the LF
bleeder.
All the while keeping the brake resevoir full of fluid during
the bleeding process.

While doing alot of my mods Ive been teaching
some stuff to my good friend,
employee part time mechanic for my shop, and WRX
owner........this is Peter.

Hes going to college for computer engineering at the
U of A, hes sorta a computer nerd, but hes a great dude.
All day we usually talk about cars, girls, whats for lunch
or do lines from movies or the Simpsons

I think in the pic he was saying "we got hooked up brakelines YO!" !! LOL

Nice series of pics, but I just thought I'd mention that in the first picture, the arrow is pointing to the ABS cable.

Hi Dayle, Thanks for the help. I did right click, but that didn't work. A notice came up and said "you can't run two copies of netscape". Of course I didn't know I was running two copies, so I deleted one copy and everything worked as it had. Thanks again Dayle and take care, BOBB
