I thought that tire shaving was proven to be a scam years ago?

Unless the tire has a beard, it is a scam. Otherwise you may get your money's worth.

LOL

I want to find someone around here that can make my 3 Yoko AVS db's round again. Then I only have to find a forth one. There is about another 40K miles left in the tread.

Didn't you only have the one bad tire?

I'm waiting for my AVS db S2's to come in.

Do you have the original db's or the db S2's?

I have the original (I Think) AVS db. I need one more for the left side of the car.

I remember seeing that back tire!

When I got home from the meet I noticed my right rear tire started doing the same thing! Found out the brakes caused it though. The guide-pins must have been stuck as one brake pad was fine while the other was almost worn completely.

Replaced the rear brakes and less brake noise as well!

Are your Yoko's cracked in the center of the 2 large grooves or is that my (dad's) imagination?

Say to Norm for me Dave.

Yes I noticed the cracks yesterday when I was looking at the tires on the porch. Does your dad think it's a problem? They do not look deep.

I did the damage when the tire was in the front with bad alignment, too low a tire pressure.

The cracks shouldn't be a problem. The cracks on the sidewalls of my current tires are much worse. Plus sidewall cracks are probably worse since there's less layers of tire there.

Maybe the speed rating would come down some.
I am really hopeing I can find some place to shave off the high spots. They were very noisy. Do you know how one of the those machines works?

I'm not sure if shaving will reduce the noise. Tires tend to get louder as they eventually wear.

Is that tire worn evenly all the way around the tire?

Not even at all, all the way around. That's what the noise is coming from.

What condition is the strut from the corner you noticed the irregular tire wear? Do you have any leaking struts?

I changed all the struts two years ago. The right front leaked right away. and I replaced it. This tire wear was from the left front. More related to under inflation and alignment, "toe" being out. This wore down the surface of the tire almost to the wear bars on inside surface of the tread. The wear on all the other 3 tires is similar. The inside 1/3 of the surface tread has simial tread wear pattern all the way around the tire cicumference. Each of the tread blocks around the circumferance has a wedge shape to it. It has formed a little ramp in relation to the running surface. The center 1/3 of the tire and the outside 1/3 of the tire is fine, it does not show this pattern and still has at least 50% of the tread left.
