Re: New headlight lenses

I have had no lens yellowing issues with them, but they are under a car cover when at home. I absolutely love the clear lenses with the 5k HID low beams. Stunning.

The high beam pattern with the clears is like a long-range "pencil beam" driving light. I started to convert the high beams to HID (very easy), but found they sent me 6k +/- bulbs (too blue) and so I only have one installed right now. It is interesting to see the major difference between the incandescent and HID lights. The HID picks up reflector signage at least twice as far away and is much "brighter". It is great for quick straight line driving, but I am researching additional driving lights for lateral spread for slower, twistier roads.

I believe it was Mike621 at AWD, LLC that installed the clear lenses and will defer to his first hand opinions of the quality. When I examine them very closely I can see that they were not easy to install, but the overall result with low beam HIDs is one of the best SVX mods.

Hey Mike, did the package arrive at Tom's?

Re: New headlight lenses

one of my employees has them on his car
for maybe 2 yrs now if that and turned a horrible yellow like the stock units.
They wont even talk to me about any sort of warranty. Mine are getting a ting of yellow now too and a bit older.
I really expected ours to last longer, but not.
maybe its the Az sun or heat.
Im looking at an acrylic version to be made. Ive never seen any of their products yellow in 20 yrs
and they have been in the business for a long time.
Chances are they would be a tad thicker, exactly how thick I can find out.
Design Im okay with, really its still about the best way Ive seen to install them and if done right, works fine.
Thing is, if we do it I have to commit to pre selling many sets and pay for all the tooling etc.
They would also be available in smoke dark tint, but dont see why anyone would want those.

How much would it be? Also just how dark smoke. I like a lightly tinted look.

Re: New headlight lenses

I'd buy a dark tinted set in a heartbeat for my Brother in law's ebony.

Re: New headlight lenses

with reasonable pricing, proper scratch resistence & durability, I'd be down for a set for sure!

Re: New headlight lenses

If it was a slight smoke tint I'd be interested in that too. With the HID's it wouldn't be much issue, as long as it wasn't TOO dark.

Plus I'd still like to be able to see the shiny housings behind the lens if you get up close. Kinda a slight tint like the Audi TT's have.
