If JD is selling HIR type 9011/9012 bulbs lemme know...

They produce a "white" beam. 3600K

Yes, some modification is req. It can be done with a good knife, file, or Dremel tool. The guy I got mine from trimmed them before shipping on one set, not on another.

At the end of the day- it is a regular filament, with an Infra red coating, and round bulb to maximize IR reflection. The coating reflects IR (non visible) light/energy back into the filament so it "burns" brighter in the visable spectrum.

I had to call a few JD dealers before I found one that could order the bulb. He said it would take about 3 days to come in . The price is $31.75 per bulb. I'll see when I pick them up if it's high or low beam.

That price is more consistant with the other bulbs.

That group buy was last year. I may do another for our maintenance meet this year. I would suggest to get them from ebay if you can find a good price.

the local JD dealer finally received the bulbs. They were shipped from Atlanta. I have the bulbs but no idea as to wheather or not they are real HIR bulbs. There is no name on them, no number, and the local JD dealer has no idea. All his book says is HIR2. They look like HIR bulb with the round, onion shaped bulb at the end. They were used on a JD Columbine (don't know if thats spelled correctly), but they are not for a small JD machine. I'll try them this week and let you know how they work out. I don't know if they need to be modified to fit.

Gr8, I hope they are HIR bulbs... take some pics after you have installed them... if you have 9005 Silverstars, you can compare them both. BTW how much did you pay for them....??

I just ordered the 9011 and 9012 bulbs from the original "bright light" supplier found before the John Deere "discovery" for $27ea.

I pulled out one of my bulbs today and on the side it says Toshiba HIR2 12V 55W P.R.C. My receipt from the John Deere dealer has a part number of AH211917 and a price of $14.41 each. I'll try and call today to see what the current price is.
