Gas gauge not working
Has anyone ever fixed this problem? Can it be fixed?

On the Legacy's it's usually a problem with the contacts on the sender to the fuel gauge being corroded. Probably the same with the SVX.

Please be more specific with some clues we can work on. Did the gauge fail after any specific incident. Are there any other electrical faults? Does the gauge pointer move or is it stationary and if so at absolute zero? Does it flicker?

The gauge shows full only after a fill up. After about a few miles it goes to empty. I usually calculate my miles or just wait untill the low fuel light goes on before filling up. I could live with it, but it's the last issue to resolve on my car. Thanks for any help.

When the tank is full the unit will register between one and three ohms across the signal line. When empty, 54 - 56 ohms. Does your empty warning light come on if the tank is very low? This level is sensed separately by means of a thermistor.

The warning light does come on. Is there a "how to" on this fix? How do I get to the gas tank to replace this part?

If it goes to empty after a few miles, wouldnt' that look like a sender with a leaky float?
