One of the better 5 speed boxes might be the Australian delivered RS Liberty turbo's? Or the early WRX's?
They had a 3.9 final drive, vs most of the Japanese imported ones, and later model ones that had 4.11 or 4.44. It's a fairly big job to change the crown wheel and pinion on the 5 speeds to go to a different ratio. The 6 speeds are definitely setup to skip ratios...2nd 4th and 6th would be manageable on around town and the highway. Matt |

These would give you good service...not sure what ratios they'll be...I suspect 4.444's, with overdrive 4th and 5ths'. Would be a reasonable box I'd think. Matt |
